  • World Energy Report Confirms Rise in Iranian Oil Production

Data from the Statistical Review of World Energy confirmed that there was a significant increase in Iran’s crude oil production in 2022, despite the continued pressure of US sanctions on the Iranian oil sector.

The annual report published by the Energy Institute (EI) showed that Iran’s oil production, including the production of crude oil, condensate, increased by 4.6% last year compared to 2021 and reached an average of 3.822 million barrels per day.

The numbers in the report showed that Iran’s combined production of crude oil and condensate, which is a very light form of oil, rose by 129,000 bpd, or 4.1%, in 2022 compared to data reported a year earlier.

Iran’s liquefied natural gas production also rose by an average of 40,000 bpd, or 8.5%, from 2021 to 509,000 bpd last year, the report said.

It says Iranian refinery fuel production rose 2.2% year-on-year in 2022 to 2.397 million barrels per day, while the country’s oil refining capacity rose 2.3% to 2.397 million barrels per day. .67 million bpd over the same period.

Iran’s natural gas production reached 259.4 billion cubic meters last year, up 1.1% from 2021, according to EI data.

Since 2023, EI has taken over the publication of the Statistical Review of World Energy, a report previously published by oil and gas supermajor bp for more than 70 years.

The EI report corroborates Iranian authorities’ claims in recent months that the country has managed to boost its crude oil production and exports despite US sanctions banning any international sales of Iranian oil.
