  • Yugra is Working to Reduce Import Dependence in Oil and Gas Production

The Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug – Ugra is forming a package of proposals related to reducing dependence on imported technologies and equipment used in oil and gas production, the head of the region, Natalya Komarova, told reporters.

Prospects for the development of the oil and gas industry during a visiting meeting of the Russian Gas Society and the Union of Oil and Gas Industrialists of Russia on the topic “The role of natural gas in the development of Yugra and Russia” were discussed by the head of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, representatives of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, PJSC Gazprom, the Union of Oil and Gas Industrialists of Russia, the Union of Oil and Gas Industry Organizations ” Russian Gas Society”, as well as the business community and public organizations.

According to Komarova, at the end of 2022, oil production in Russia amounted to 535.2 million tons of oil, Yugra’s contribution to this volume is 41.7%. Forecast for 2023 – 517 million tons. She noted that the decrease is due to agreements in the format of the OPEC+ agreement.

“In this regard, our task is to ensure that this kind of regulated reduction in oil production does not affect the volume of work related to investing in the fuel and energy complex, oil and gas production and the quality of life of people. The government of the Autonomous Okrug has prepared a number of initiatives for the sustainable development of the industry and the region This is stimulating the reproduction of the mineral resource base, including improving the subsoil licensing system, stimulating geological exploration, adjusting the special tax regime (STR) in terms of its expansion and clarification of parameters, reducing the level of import dependence in the oil and gas industry through the development, testing and replication of domestic hydrocarbon production technologies “, the governor noted.

As Vladimir Yakushev, the Presidential Plenipotentiary Representative in the Ural Federal District, added during the meeting, currently the primary task is to ensure the technological growth of the oil and gas complex and solve the most important problem of technological sovereignty.

“According to the Russian Ministry of Energy, dependence on imported equipment has decreased from 67% to 38%. It is necessary to continue to carry out this work systematically. Seven road maps are currently being developed that will form the basis for the further development of industries. Priority will be given to technologies for the extraction of hard-to-recover reserves, including in the Arctic zone and on the shelf, equipment for the production of LNG, as well as gas chemistry,” the Department of Internal Policy of Ugra quotes the plenipotentiary as saying.
