“Zarubezhneft” received an investment license to master the block 11-2 of the continental shelf of Vietnam, the Interfax correspondent reports.

During the visit of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, a number of documents were signed in Vietnam. Within the framework of the exchange ceremony, the Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam transferred to the general director of the Joint-Stock Company Zarubezhneft Sergey Kudryashov an investment license for the development of Bloc 11-2 of the continental shelf of Vietnam.

The operator of the block was appointed by the subsidiary of Zarubezhneft – Zn EP Vietnam, the Russian Tax Code said.

In addition, as part of the visit, a memorandum of mutual understanding of cooperation in Vietnam was signed between PJSC Novatek and the Petrovietnam oil and gas corporation.

As Putin said during the signing ceremony, energy is a strategic direction of bilateral interaction. According to him, companies from Russia are ready to connect as co-investors and suppliers to large-scale projects using liquefied natural gas (LNG).

Over the decades of the development of oil and gas deposits, Vietnam, the “joint venture” Viettsovpetro, has obtained about 250 million tons of oil. In turn, the Petrovietnam Corporation, which has been implementing projects in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug in Russia, has already extracted about 35 million in the extremely difficult conditions of the north Tons of oil.

The joint statement of the Russian Federation and Vietnam, published on the Kremlin website, notes that cooperation between Russian and Vietnamese companies within the framework of existing and new projects in the field of energy, including oil and LNG supply, meets the strategic interests of the two countries.

“The parties support the creation of favorable conditions for expanding the activities of Russian oil and gas companies on the continental shelf of Vietnam and Vietnamese oil and gas companies in Russia in accordance with the national legislation of Russia and Vietnam and international law, including the UN Convention on the Law of 1982,” the statement said.

The Russian Federation and Vietnam also see a promising direction for the implementation of joint projects to create new and modernization of the constructed electrogeeneration objects.

In the year 2021, Zarubezhneft has been forming a gas cluster in Vietnam and Indonesia. According to the latest data, it included five assets: the operator unit 06-1 (35% of Zarubezhneft EP Vietnam B.V, 45% in Indian ONGC, 20% for Petrovietnam), the Nam Con Pipeline pipeline consortium (32.7% of Zarubezhneft EP Vietnam B.V., 16.3% in the Anglo -French Perenco, 51% in Vietnamese PV GAS), the operator block 12/11, the promising block 11-2 and the TUNA block (Indonesia, 50% – at ZNO -Asia “, 50% – with the British Premier Oil).

Block 11-2 was also supposed to become part of the gas cluster of the Russian company. To do this, Zarubezhneft planned to redeem the 75% share in it from Korean KNOC (the second member of the SCP with 25% – Petrovietnam), however, the completion of the transaction was not reported.
