The TMK Research Center (TMK RC) and Volgograd State Technical University (VolgSTU) have signed a strategic cooperation agreement for a period of ten years. The parties plan to conduct joint research and develop the region’s scientific and educational infrastructure.
The document was signed by TMK RC General Director Igor Pyshmintsev, Acting Rector of VolgSTU Alexander Navrotsky, and TMK Vice President Sergey Chetverikov as part of the 19th Volgograd Regional Educational Forum “Education-2026.”
The partnership provides for cooperation in scientific and educational areas, including research activities, technology exchange, digitalization of production, as well as the implementation of joint educational programmes and internships. The first projects will focus on improving technologies for stainless steel smelting and the production of stainless steel pipes.
“Cooperation with профильные higher education institutions is one of the key areas of activity for TMK’s scientific division. The signing of the agreement reflects our commitment to systematic interaction between academic and industry science. Joint projects in the field of new materials and digital solutions will not only address current technological challenges but also train specialists with the most востребованные competencies,” said Igor Pyshmintsev.
“We consider this agreement as an element of the systematic development of the region’s scientific and educational ecosystem. Combining the potential of the university and an industrial partner will accelerate the implementation of innovations, strengthen the research base, and create conditions for the emergence of new technological solutions in metallurgy. This is a contribution to the sustainable development of both the Volgograd region and the industry as a whole,” noted Alexander Navrotsky.
Cooperation between TMK and VolgSTU is systemic in nature. Earlier, with the support of the Volzhsky Pipe Plant (VTZ, a TMK subsidiary), a basic department “Environmental Protection and Resource Conservation,” a metal forming laboratory, and a corporate TMK classroom were established at the university.
