Oil Production in Belarus:
- has been carried out since 1965;
- during the Soviet period, the main production centers were the Rechitsa and Svetlogorsk districts, accounting for more than 90% of total oil production;
- currently, drilling operations are also conducted in the Kalinkovichi, Oktyabrsky, and Khoiniki districts, each producing more than 100 thousand tonnes per year;
- Belorusneft, together with the Ministry of Natural Resources of Belarus, continues exploration within the Pripyat Trough, which covers almost the entire Gomel region and partially the Minsk and Brest regions.
In January 2026, Belorusneft CEO A. Lyakhov stated that the company plans to increase oil production by about 5%to 2.1 million tonnes by the end of the year. According to him, the company has demonstrated steady growth in recent years, with production rising from 1.645 million tonnes in 2016 to 2.013 million tonnes in 2025. Reaching 2.1 million tonnes this year would mark a new historical record for the industry in the country.
In addition, 2025 was a record year for Belorusneft’s drilling divisions. The company drilled more than 324 thousand metres and completed 82 wells. In 2026, it plans to surpass these figures, increasing drilling volume to 330 thousand metres and the number of new wells to 100.
