Oil Production in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Increased by 2.6% in January–February
Oil production in January–February in Russia’s largest oil-producing region, the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug – Yugra, increased by 2.6%, and by the end of 2026 it is expected to remain at least at the level of 2025, said Egor Zbrodov, First Deputy Director of the Department of Subsoil Use and Natural Resources of the region.
“The volume of oil production in the first two months of this year was 2.6% higher than in the same period last year. Let me remind you that in 2025, Yugra accounted for almost 40% of the total oil production in Russia. For this year, we expect production to remain at no less than the 2025 level,” the news portal Ugra-News.ru quotes Zbrodov as saying.
At the same time, according to him, the production forecast for 2026 may be adjusted in either direction, depending on changes in the global macroeconomic and political environment, as well as conditions in global energy markets.
Speaking about the challenges facing the region’s oil and gas sector, the official noted that Russia continues to fulfill its obligations under the OPEC+ agreement.
An indicator of the stable functioning of the oil and gas complex is the preservation of key industry metrics, such as the volume of development drilling, commissioning of new producing wells, and the discovery of new fields, he added.
“The stability of these indicators ensures the maintenance of previously achieved oil production levels. It should be noted that last year two new fields were discovered and three were put into pilot operation. These figures are in line with the dynamics of previous years,” Zbrodov concluded.
