This week saw the start of the RAO / CIS Offshore exhibition & conference in St Petersburg. The event kicked off with a great opening ceremony that saw a huge welcome ceremony for exhibitors, conference speakers and visitors to Russia’s premier offshore event.

There was a certain buzz around the exhibition floor on the opening morning with visitors eager to view the exhibits of both local Russian and international companies. ROGTEC Magazine, an official media partner to the event, is showcasing its latest issue alongside advertisers and media partners including Rosneft, Total, Shtokman, Statoil, ION Geophysical, Bel Valves and Aker Arctic amongst others.

The show has attracted a healthy number of visitors to both the exhibition and conferences so far in its opening two days. RAO/CIS Offshore looks at the development of the Russian Arctic and CIS Continental shelf. The Russian shelf is the largest in the world, with 85% located in the Arctic. With dwindling oil reserves and increasing demand, the Arctic seems to be the next frontier, with massive potential to ensure future global energy security.
